The Roots of Cheeky Harvest

Our dream of becoming urban farmers started in 2018 when we set up our first prototype hydroponics system. We quickly discovered we could grow a huge variety of delicious microgreens in a very small space.

As scientists, we saw this technology-based approach as a sustainable solution to growing food closer to the people who eat it.

We spent the next two years learning as much as we could about indoor farming. When we came across the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) microloan program, we saw an opportunity to bring our dream to life.

In 2020, we found a location in South Minneapolis to expand our operation and successfully applied for a microloan. With lots of support from family and friends, Cheeky Harvest came to life in 2021.

We soon outgrew our original space, and in 2024 we moved Cheeky Harvest to a 3400 sq ft space in St. Paul with help from another USDA microloan.

ROOTED IN SCIENCE

We combine modern vertical farming with hydroponics in a controlled environment to grow pesticide-free microgreens & edible flowers year-round.

Vertical farming

We stack our microgreens and flowers like an apartment complex, meaning we can grow in urban spaces, closer to consumers, reducing transportation and food miles.

hydrOponics

Our grow racks are very water efficient using significantly less water than traditional farming.

controlled environment

Our indoor farm can produce crops year-round, regardless of the weather, providing a more predictable food supply.
